A little of the shop

I realized I've blogged so many floral design pics that I haven't really posted many of the shop. After redesigning the displays I was inspired to snap a few :) Primal Flower the prettiest shop you haven't been to yet..and a few flowers thrown in

Primal Flower candles

If you haven't heard about our amazing candles you're missing out. We created this line with a candle manufacturer who does private label lines. Our candles are 100% non-GMO organic soy wax. All but one of the scents ( Apothecary) is phthalate free and one ( Serene) uses only natural essential oils. The rest are a blend of synthetic but phthalate free fragrance oils and essential oils. I'm very proud of this line. We sold out of it in 2 weeks the first time we received the order.
We have 4 new scents to add to our line: Stogie: a rich tobbaco leaf, celery seed and cedarwood blend, Alpha: a masculine, true leather scent, really unusual and sophisticated. Home: a non-cloying,rich, warm vanilla and Serene: lavender balanced with bergamot, geranium and petigrain.
Did you know that burning soy candles can kill harmful bacteria in your home?
Researchers believe that the oils react with ions in the wick and with oxygen to take on anti- bacterial properties. adding eucalyptus, orange and thyme actually benefits this process. Pretty amazing how aromatherapy works in so many wonderful ways :) and I just liked them because they smell so dang good!

Still loving the dahlias ...

More beautiful examples of these luscious dahlias! Ugh how pretty are they? If you can be jealous of a flower...this one is worthy of envy.

The effects of camera technology

I'm dying for a professional Canon camera. You know the kind..the one I'll have to sell a kidney to buy. The one that creates the most beautiful images...like a painting. I think that's why I'm just as obsessed with Sarah Ryhanen of Saipua's photos as I am of her arrangements. The images almost transcend the arrangements themselves in their sheer beauty.
Here's my feeble attempt with a few nifty iPhone Apps

Insanely gorgeous peonies

Love the deep rich crimson of the flowers. One wonders how such a flower can even exist. So much beauty and deep pigment. Flowers evoke so much emotion in me. What about you?

I love creative challenges

I was asked to do a Caddy Shack themed floral arrangement for a client. They put on an event here in our downtown last week and wanted to send a thank you to one of the people helping at the event. Pretty cute huh?

Corals, peaches, creams and carbon footprints

We had the honor of doing centerpieces for our new customer Leigh's engagement party today. We used California grown Eufloria roses cut from their farm the day before and shipped to us overnight. Did you know that 80% of the roses consumers purchase in America are imported from South America? They are flown into Miami and then trucked to California!
This is craziness. Just because they are cheaper.
California growers have been hit hard because of imported flowers. What happened to us as consumers that we care so little about the carbon footprint of flower production, yet we get up in arms about our food, coffee and chocolate?
I suggest reading Amy Stewarts "Flower Confidential". Fascinating exposé on the way flowers are grown here and all over the world.
